How should I dress for Worship?
At our church you will find some people dressed casually and some wearing a coat and tie. Feel free to wear whatever makes you comfortable. 1 Samuel 16:7 says, “Man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.” Our desire is to do the same.
Do you take Communion?
We celebrate the two sacraments instituted by Jesus for the church (Luke 22:19, Matthew 28:19-20): Baptism and Holy Communion, or the Lord’s Supper. We celebrate Communion weekly, believing that it is an encouragement and nourishment for our weary spirits. We believe that the table belongs to the Lord and that the Supper is for all Baptized Christians. If this does not describe you, then we ask that you abstain from the table. We ask this, not because we desire to single you out, but because 1 Corinthians 11:28-29 encourages us to not take the supper in an unworthy manner, that is, without an understanding of our sin our need for Jesus.
Do You Let Children Take Communion?
Our church does not set an age requirement on anyone to take part in communion, but we do ask that if you would like your children to participate, that they first meet with a church leader to talk about their faith in Christ and what communion means.
Children in worship?
Perhaps the first thing you will notice about Hope Church Hot Springs is that there are small children in the service. We have grown accustomed to the presence of children in the service, and the children grow accustomed to being a part of the worship experience. It is clear that this is the Biblical model. We do have a well-equipped nursery for ages 0-3, but we want to reassure worried parents that we love having children in the service.
